OUR SUGGESTIONS FOR STANDARDIZATION AND PART CONSOLIDATIONWhether a suggestion is needed for a new product or an existing one, we can provide the needed information to assist Purchasing and Engineering in specifying the best part.
To accomplish this, we will need Engineering to provide us with specifications on the product in which the fastener is to be applied. For instance…are there any clearance issues in installation; what is the thickness of the mating materials; are there any preferred hole sizes; are there physical properties the part needs to withstand, etc.
Standardization in part design may cost money when altering existing tooling, assembly methods, and documentation/ blueprint design. There should be clear justification of any change. Reduced on-hand inventory, improved design (reduced scrap levels), reduced labor, and price reductions are a few keys elements
