ADVANCED SHIPPING NOTICE (ASN)
An advance shipping notice (ASN) is a notification of pending deliveries, similar to a packing list, that are in the que to be delivered from Purchase Partners to our customer. It can be provided in a standard PDF file, or customized CSV. It allows you to upload product receiving electronically.
Auto-delivered by Purchase Partners via email to the customer as a CSV file and uploaded by the customer as a pre-receiving or final receiving of inbound product – makes receiving a snap, and always 100% correct.
The ASN can be used to list the contents of a shipment of goods as well as additional information relating to the shipment, such as order information, customer part numbers, product description, packaging, shipment number, and quantity.
The goal of the ASN is to provide information to the customer’s receiving operations well in advance of delivery, to increase inventory receiving efficiencies and accuracy, impacting the logistics stream in three areas: cost, accuracy, and flexibility.
SERIALIZED BAR CODES AND CONSOLIDATED PACKING LISTS
Purchase Partners routinely packages customer orders with serialized bar code labels. This allows each and every carton to have separate, distinct identifying information, driving lot control down to the box. Serialized bar codes are commonly used in automotive markets, among others.
Consolidated shipment packing lists allow you to scan barcodes at receiving, summarizing entire shipments verses scanning hundreds of individual cartons; allows you to process electronic barcode receiving in seconds!
